About
We, Mike and Jackie, have been married over eighteen years. We have two children— a daughter, Peyton (16) and a son, Elijah (6). We are native Washingtonians and have lived in Tacoma our whole lives. In April 2010 we were sent out as missionaries. We are starting our adventure in Kona, training with YWAM at the University of the Nations.
Our family has been a part of our local church body, City Central, since 1999. Over many years, as a family, we grew in an environment of discipleship and in our relationship with Christ. As this continued, God began leading our family to serve not just in the church, but also within the local community. In 2004, God called our family along with many from our church, to downtown Tacoma. Mike, along with a handful of faithful men, pioneered a late night program in the inner city. This ministry later birthed into Sozo church, which is highly focused on the restoration and discipleship of at-risk youth.
Since 2005, we have have had the privilege to teach, train and pray at various YWAM bases and hold conferences in churches located in Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, California, Arizona and Kona.
Prior to working with City Central, Mike owned a business for eighteen years in the construction industry. In 2007 began the transition into full time ministry and at that time both Mike and Jackie graduated with a Masters in Theology from Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington along with forty-five other friends from City Central. At this point, Mike served as an elder and was on staff for 2 years.
Last summer Mike, along with seventy other local church members, had the privilege of serving with Call2all in China. Over the past year, he has also had the opportunity to come alongside amazing churches, youth organizations and ministries to bring larger evangelistic events into the Tacoma area, coordinating volunteers, building relationships both in the community and the church.
Within the local community, Mike has been a part of teaching Freedom Immersion Conferences with a focus on Prayer, Restoration and Missions. Over the years we have had great opportunities within our church and home to be a part of the discipleship, training and teaching of children, youth, adults and married couples.
Last August, we had an unbelievable adventure as a family… we joined with a group of incredible students from the Catalyst School, at City Central. We prayed, preached and ministered in South Africa, seeing the Love of God coming through the students and our fearless children! We are so grateful that God opened our eyes to see we are truly “a mom and a dad… a family,” to the next generation. This has been our life, not just in the church, but also in our home as we have been blessed to have many young adults and married couples live with us over the past several years.
After living with DTS students in Japan and serving with Catalyst school last summer, our hearts have been filled with such passion for the youth! We want them to be set free, given purpose, and trained and equipped to live fully devoted to Jesus! What an adventure its going to be….won’t you come along? It is a step of faith but we believe it will be an encounter with abundant joy, and life!
